Charles Perkins and Edward Williams, both African-Americans, filed their suit against 3705 Iberville LLC, who at the time were doing business as
The Blind Pelican, a popular seafood restaurant located in the city.Perkins and Williams both worked for The Blind Pelican as oyster shuckers, and allege that during their employment they were subjected to deprivation of rights and privileges, physical, mental, and emotional pain. Also named in the suit is Steven Seeber, who the plaintiffs claim used racial slurs, yelled at them, and called them derogatory names in front of the staff and restaurant.Our clients also allege that Seeber discriminated and retaliated against them, terminating their employment on January 24th of last year. Both clients claim they were not paid their final paycheck, and that 3705 Iberville LLC has caused them to suffer from lost wages, salary, commissions, and benefits.Mr. Perkins and Mr. Williams requested a trial by jury with the intent of seeking declaration that the defendants, both Seeber and 3705 Iberville LLC, are in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts. The suit requested permanent restraining of the violations, financial compensation for all damages suffered, attorney’s fees, and any and all other forms of relief that may be deemed appropriate.
